Millicent Stephenson is an accomplished and acclaimed multi award winning UK saxophonist who is proud of successfully developing her music hobby into a full time music business. From this experience Millicent created 'Success Beyond The Score Podcast' as a vehicle to inspire and educate musicians with tips and insights on how to build a successful music career, in other words the things that are needed, beyond the music notes, for a successful music career.
In Season 1 of the Podcast Millicent shares her wisdom on a variety of Topics. In Season 2 Millicent interviews musicians who have made music their full time Career and have been in the Industry for 10, 20, 30 or more years. We learn of their achievements, their highs and lows, dealing with celebrity status and the mundane; and also their tips for making it in music business. Her Guests experiences include Signed artistes, those who work with A-Listers and those who have single-handedly built their career as independent/DIY musicians.
Millicent’s music career includes directing her yearly Show ‘Not Just Jazz’ which showcases her original material and favourite iconic covers to her fans, growing her fanbase and teaching. Recognising the lack of female musicians in the industry, Millicent founded ‘Cafemnee’ in 2015 to empower women returning to their music. In response to the COVID pandemic Millicent set up on an online membership group called ‘Time For My Music’ and also online music business training courses.
In 2020 Millicent was elected on to the Executive Committee of the Musicians Union. Millicent is an Endorser for Harry Hartmann Fiberreeds (Germany). Millicent is featured on Radio, TV, Books and Journals. She is a Speaker, Guest Blogger and author of the free e-booklet ‘Revealed 25 Secrets of the Successful Gigging Musician, Singer, rapper and Spoken Word Artiste’. Millicent is a wife and mother of two adult children.
